What are pro and non-pro classifications for Polygon’s options data?

Polygon.io serves both professional and non-professional users, but there are some differences in the service offered to each.

For example, U.S. exchanges require us to collect and maintain personal and employment information for all users of our Options API data who are considered professional. A professional status is determined when you sign up on our website and complete a small list of questions. The data is the same for both professional and non-professional users, however, professional users are subject to higher exchange fees regulated by OPRA. To learn more about professional and non-professional subscriber status on Polygon.io, visit our blog post “Understanding Professional Status”. Professional users can find pricing information on our business products page.
