Embark on an exciting journey as a Rust Database Engineer at Polygon.io, where you will be instrumental in crafting our next-gen database engine, a new project that underpins platform-wide access to financial market data. This groundbreaking initiative empowers millions of end-users, providing real-time and historic market data through our cutting-edge SQL and RESTful APIs.
As a key member of this small elite team, you will help in making crucial decisions on the architecture and design of this foundational layer. Your expertise in Rust will be central to creating an efficient and scalable database engine that sets new industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Help architect, design, and implement critical components of our database engine using Rust to handle and execute large-scale, concurrent queries efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with a small team of highly talented individuals to build and continuously improve our technology stack.
- Conduct thorough performance analysis, profiling, and benchmarking to identify bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
- Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain a high standard of code quality and software design.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Rust and database technologies to leverage new techniques for system improvements.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience and proficiency in Rust programming language.
- Passionate about learning and problem-solving.
- Enjoy having ownership and responsibility on a project.
- Solid work ethic; we trust our team to deliver exceptional results without the need for micromanagement.
- Familiarity with financial data or experience in the industry is a plus.
